Dog Trainers??

Any dog trainers on here? Or people who have had success with their dogs? My dog is about 5 months old. She has not had an accident in the house for about 2 weeks. But now she completely refuses to go out in the rain.

She has gone out and quickly did number 1, but she won't do number 2. I know she has to, but even if I take her and carry her to the furthest point from home she still won't go...she just cries, pulls, barks, etc. She pulls and twists so bad I'm afraid she's going to hurt her neck.

Any help to get her to like the rain would be greatly appreciated!!

Ahhhh. So I take it from your post that you put her on the leash and take her out to go to the bathroom. Do you walk her?

I have a roommate that lets his dog walk all over him. She leads him around like he's her puppy. She's the first one out and the first one back in. She's always ahead of him. The most important thing is to let her know that you're in charge. Once she knows that, she will trust you to know what's good and bad. If you aren't concerned with rain, she won't be. I asked about walking her because walks are a great way to build and reinforce that bond. Once she starts going crazy in the backyard what do you do?

I was just having the same problem with my dog yesterday. I would open the door, she would walk out the door and turn around and come right back in. The way i look at it is.....if shes not going in the house I don't mind.

Are you walking her in the rain or just taking her out? Is she going in the house after refusing to go outside? If she is holding it in then I would ignore it, no worries. Water and dogs is a very funny thing. How is the dog in the bath? I have a labrador who wasn't so thrilled with the rain, but after several months of baths, and swimming he now could care less and would rather lay on the lawn in the rain then sit in the house.

I also forgot to mention she absolutely loves the water. Brought her down to the bay the other day and without thinking I took her off the leash and she ran right into the bay so shes not afraid of water, it just seems like she doesnt like the rain. She would rather sit on her chair all day and lay around.

My mutt hates water, baths, rain, etc. Overall he is very well behaved and even some Vets thought I had him trained professionally. He will not go out in the yard when it rains; even if I stand out there with him. He will hold it as long as he can with no house accidents. With this rain he didn't go out for at least 12hrs and this morning he went out did his things.

We had the same problem with our beagle as well in the beginning. I use to stand outside with waiting with my umbrella till she went and would not let her in till she went #2. My wife also got her rain coat and shes goes out there with no problem. They will get use to the rain eventually and go with no problem. Now she goes without it on but smells like a wet dog.

Yes...we go for walks and jogs every day. We are in an apartment, so I don't have anywhere fenced in to just let her run, but she gets multiple walks every day. She also knows that I am in charge. She waits for me to walk out or in, then she follows...she won't even go up or down stairs until I do.

If she starts throwing a tantrum, I pin her to the ground until she calms down.

She always listens to me too....my girlfriend, not so much...but she's trying lol.

I can't say we have gone for a walk in the rain....that may be want I need to do. We usually go out in the rain, let her do her business, then right back in.
