Drain line....

So I was doing my weekly inspection of my gear and noticed a drop forming on one of my drain lines. I use a 2 foot flexible hose for my daring line and it appears there is slight tear somewhere. I am hoping to run out and find exactly what I need so I can replace it tonight, just not confident i will find it.

Do people use the flexible host or PVC for the drain lines? It was a big debate when I setup 3 months ago and went with the flexible but now I am wondering if that is a mistake.

Thoughts?Experiences please....

Are you talking PVC flex? Or some other kind of flexible pipe/hose?

If it is PVC flex, I'd be shocked if it had a tear....that stuff is pretty tough!

If it's just some other kind of flexible hose, HD carries all different sizes.

One more thing....if it is flex PVC, you could cut the pipe at that location and install a coupling using pvc cleaner/cement. That would "fix" the torn area.

Its 1" flex hose that you would normally see on a sump pump, I got it from Premium Aquatics http://premiumaquatics.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PA&Product_Code=ES-19010&Category_Code=

Was debating about whether or not shutting down the system, applying PVC adhesive to the area, letting it sit for 10 minutes and then turning it all back on would be a wise idea. I don't want to dry out the hose. My biggest fear is the pin hole will lead to a crack and then a massive issue.

Tomorrow I will be working on it to replace the hose and get a new line in, just don't have the parts on hand to do the work right now.

I just did my plumbing for the first time & I did pvc for drain & hose for return... took me forever to get it right.

Today I replaced the 1" flex hose with rigid PVC. Glad I did. upon further inspection the flex hose has a .5" gash in it. Would of been a nightmare. Honestly I am close to replacing all of it with PVC and leaving the braided hose for the returns as the braided hose is pretty tough.
