Dream Tank - 4000 Gallons

I’ve been following this build over on MonsterFishKeepers for the past six months. The owner lives in NY and sold his Ferrari 430 and Lamborghini Gallardo to fund the build…and fit the setup in his garage. It is 4000 gallons and the tank goes from floor to ceiling. Note, the corals are all fake…but I think still look pretty nice…not to mention no light requirements. Here’s the link to the rest of the build:

So what size tank do you think I’ll be able to build after I sell two of my rides…. a 1990 Dodge Colt and 1992 Chrysler Town & Country?

That much cash, and the guy puts plastic corals in it, just not right on so many levels!

i agree...and then you add in the fact that he has a horde algae-eating tangs...with nothing to pick at. I'd love to seen at least ONE panther grouper and a clarion angel and a big fat eel...

Anyways a 90 colt and a 92 T&C will get you a 4000 gallon tank. You just have to throw in the 2nd mortgage. ;)

"New pictures added today 20 purple tangs, 20 yellow tanks, 14" clown trigger and mant others just dont remember the name. Also added bacteria to help cycle the tank. Next pictures will be of leapard sharks and few others we will be adding soon enjoy. "

While it is beautiful to see so many tangs shoaling in such a big tub'o water, it's criminally wrong to toss 40 beautiful tangs AND a 7" clown trigger, along with whatever else he can't remember into a possibly uncycled tank!!!!

I am amazed and appauled all at once. :-\

I agree.. the tank is beautiful but I am not all about the plastic corals and plastic live rock... If the tank is in fact not cycled then wow... this could end very badly.... had this tank been set up with all live rock and live corals i would be in awe right now..

when he showed me this i said the same thing. cant enjoy plastic.

id rather had a 40 gallon tank jam packed with the nicest, rarest corals then a 4000 mock up.

i'd deal with plastic for a little bit while i stock piled rock then put in some solar tube sand call it a day

anyone wanna guess at the differnce in set up cost of a 4000g reef vs a 4000g f/o? hmmm, i bet it's a good chunk of my mortgage. and could you imagine the lights needed to reach the lower level of that tank, and the size of the chiller required to cool that down? thinking about it makes my head and wallet hurt.... lol

20% of 4000g is 800g. 165g / 5 gallon bucket of salt at approx $50 per bucket. 5 buckets.. $250 per month in water changes, plus very frequent rodi filter replacement.... outta my budget.
