Drilling a tank ??

I found a tank on craigslist but its not drilled. Is there anywhere around freehold/Howell NJ that will drill a tank for you ?

I'm very handy but don't wanna practice on an expensive tank for my first time.

Thanks Guys!

Joe, drilling a tank is pretty easy….especially if you have found out it is NOT tempered. Tempered glass cannot be drilled! Go over to the Glass-Holes site and look at the videos they have on drilling a tank. The critical points of drilling glass are:

1.) Bit always in a water bath.
2.) Drill speed slow.
3.) No pressure on the drill….let the bit do the work.

+1. Get a piece scrap glass and practice. Once you do it once it very easy and you will feel very comfortable to attack your tank without hesitation.

OK so the guy finally answered me, This is what he wrote.

" I believe it is perfecto, don't think it is tempered, and it is not RR."

Lol. I guess they will work to.

Actually Matt, you’re not wrong. You are most likely just remembering marketing on sunglasses. Polaroid sunglasses were advertised and sold. Polaroid was just the tradename for polarized film technology. So use Polaroid sunglasses or sunglasses that have polarized lenses…they are the same thing.

if you get your bits from glass holes get the guide. it is really easy to line up and you can drill strait down without having to tilt your drill to get it to start..

I have a 1" bit and a 3/4" bit plus the guide if you want to borrow them. I can even take a Polaroid picture of you drilling if you want me to.
