All fish have different personalities. I had a coral beauty in my fish tank ever. Never touched anything. Ever since that one perished. Al of them would nip on sps occasionally. But any acans or zoas would be flipped over right away from nipping

Yeah I don’t think it’s worth the risk but I’m finding it very hard to convince myself an angel isn’t the best route to take, I’d be the guy who gets the one that decimates all coral lol

Yikes ....I can’t risk it .....can I get some more recommendations according to my stock list

And never once had an issue?

Correct. Placed in tank within 2 weeks of each other with other fish. Once they established territory and pecking order all good.
If I try and introduce one now will not work, trust me I did try rearranging rock and even a barrier.
Once let loose it was a goner.

And neither ever messed with your coral?

Good afternoon all from late season snowy jersey. I’m debating which fish to add last to my system and I’d like a dwarf angel. 40 gallon, zoas and lps only, First fish was a royal gramma and second was a neon dottyback. The third and final fish has to be able to hold its own against the dotty but there is plenty of hiding spots. I have a couple fish in mind but I need to hear from real people not reading online fish facts. Who has kept dwarfs with coral, i know the success is low with sps but who has successfully kept dwarfs with lps and which species....and if not what fish do you think should be my last one in the tank. Thanks all
So being that I started with nano tanks and had a lot of good fortune with them,I figured I might have some decent advise on this topic. My first tank was a 10 gallon that I had stocked with a pgmy angel, fire fish, neon Doty back and soft corals plus crustaceans. I tried other combos in there but that was the combo that worked with out complications for the majority of the tanks life.
Then I moved up to a 20 and from a 20 to a 40 breeder. In the 40 breeder I was able to have a coral beauty and a bicolor angel I also had soft corals but never had any issue with the angels eating on them..
With nano tanks your gonna catch a lot of feed back from people saying you cant do this or you cant do that... Mostly its people that never kept a nano or are stuck with rules of thumb about fish and tank sizes... I say use good judgement when picking fish if the fish is small enough fine but if you know its gonna get big one day make sure you have plans to move it when the time comes

Size wise I’ll be ok with only 3 fish but I’m worried about all the coral

@BangedUp Any fish can be hit or miss. When I started my goal was to have a clown fish and a yellow tang. I had both in my 36g. I wasn't even going to do corals. After awhile I picked up a flame angel (lost my tang). Was going great but then started to learn more about corals. I knew angels could nip/eat corals so I was going back and forth on the idea. I finally decided I would start slow. I added some zoas and watch to make sure the angel didn't nip. I had a game plan - depending on what happen is what I would do but most likely get rid of the coral. I then upgraded to my 54. Add tons more fish (heavy stock tank) and good amount of corals (zoes, button polyps, lps, sps,). I was in deep either way but I kept an eye on them and for 2 years no issues. I broke the tank down and sold off the live stock cause I moved. I now back to my 36g tank. I was going to make it a nem tank, no corals. I added a couple of nems and added a clown and the coral beauty. The nems didn't work out and I started wanting corals again. Knowing I was risking I started to add corals slowly watching with a game plan in mind (this time the fish would go) I going on about a year with this setup and so far no issues. I even have a yellow clown goby which I just learned nips SPSs and so far no issues there. My suggestion, and I am just a stranger on the internet, is have a game plan in the worst case and if you are ok with that game plan if the worst happens then pull the trigger

Thanks everyone, I think I’m going to go in a different direction, as nice as they are and it seems like there’s a good chance they won’t eat corals and don’t in many tanks I just don’t think I’m willing to risk it even though that’s what I want
