Earl's 55g mixed reef

Do you mind sharing where In HD. While I have gotten what I need for my screens I would like to pick up some extra just in case.

ATS progress

My ATS has been up and running for about three weeks now. I am starting to grow some GHA on the screen. I'm happy to report that the brown film algae that was growing on my overflow has all but disappeared. My NO3 has gone from 20-25ppm to 5-10ppm(Salifert) since installing the scrubber. I'm also having to sweep the front glass every 2-3 days as opposed to daily sweepings. So far, so good with the scrubber:D

A few pics

I usually get caught up in coral growth and parameters but lately I've been really happy just watching my fish.

I just picked up these when Reefs Plus was at Allaquatics.

My goby has been with me for a year and some change. I removed my shallow sand bed almost a year ago. I was worried about the little guy, but he seems happy.

I've had the big clown for almost two years. I got the little guy the same day I got the zoas. I was nervous introducing him but I lucked out. Within minutes he found the big clown and I think they like each other...

Fish look great. I have had my yellow watchman in my frag tank which has not sand and he has been fine. He has a little cave that he hangs out in and is doing well.

I'm going to try to keep up on this thread a bit more if anyone is interested. I got a new skimmer from a friend on another forum. SRO 1000 INT.

The skimmer is used but the pump is brand new.

I made a little stand for the skimmer. I ended up having to shorten it a couple inches. I zip tied some eggcrate to the top.

This is my old 20g tall sump. I thought I kept it pretty clean, guess not:culpability:

New 20g Long sump is in place.

This is where all my money goes...How many pieces of equipment look familiar?

Seven days later we have some delicious skimmate!

Two things I think are worth mentioning.
I built a little stand for the sump to make for easy siphoning.

Also, a slight mod on the skimmer. I cut the pipe that goes to the gate valve. The bottom of the output is slightly submerged.

looking good on the tank earl! nice upgrades!
Thanks man. I am very happy with it so far. I am almost done equipment-wise. I'm thinking about switching from dosing two-part to dosing kalk. I think I'm gonna go with the Aqua medic kalk stirrer. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link. I plan on running whatever I end up with through my Tunze ATO. I'll have to read some reviews and ask around about the Avast.

I went to The Hidden Reef today and picked up some live black worms. This is my first time feeding worms. Only three of the six fish ate them. I'll try again tomorrow.

Well, make that eight fish. I picked up these two little guys.

The blackworms seem to be a hit with all of my fish!

It takes a couple of feeding for the fish to get used to them, but once they do they love them.

This is the third feeding. The first only my tang, wrasse and royal gramma went after them. I'm really trying to feed my fish better foods lately.

Two Spot Hogfish

Picked up this little guy a couple nights ago from all aquatics. I'm happy to say he is eating well and getting along with everyone.
