Mushrooms are pretty easy, mild to moderate light and flow, same with most zoanthids (which I'm a huge fan of).
They can handle fluctuating water conditions fairly well and can even grow in water that is slightly off (dirty, high parameters, etc).
Most soft corals, including leathers, are very forgiving.
Getting into the LPS (large polyp stony) corals like torches is a bit more challenging, and they tend to do a bit better in an established tank.
SPS (small polyp stony) are super colorful but more advanced, as they need close to pristine water and usually require dosing of calcium and alkalinity supplements.
Stick with some soft corals to start. I can donate you a few zoas if you're in the Brick area.
Also, many may advise Xenia or GSP (Green star polyp) as great starter corals. They are easy to grow in almost any conditions, but they will take over a tank, completely, in short time.
I'd advise steering clear of them.
