Ecotech Marine VorTech MP20

Even though I have been wanting to upgrade my 55 to something bigger, it doesnt look like that will happen anytime soon. I sat in front of my tank and realized how cluttered it looked with clunky powerheads, heater and return from....wait for it....wait for it....the dreaded canister filter. ;D

Anyways, I know I will be able to drastically change the look of my tank by replacing the powerheads to just one VorTech MP20 which would be perfect for my standard 55. Would probably make the corals happier as well. In the future, for when I upgrade the size of the tank, I can get the conversion kit for the MP40 if needed.

I see that the average cost of one of these is $299.99. Does anyone know of any deals that could help me out? Discounts and such?

Thanks

The September group buy. ;D

Also, if you can afford it, look at getting the 40 now and running it at lower power. Just a thought. ;)

I would love to but just cant swing it and have a feeling I will be running the 55 for quite a while. How much do you figure I can get it for at the group buy?

The mp40 is fine for a 55. If you get the 20 you'll wind up paying more with the upgrade later. They are so versatile you can put them anywhere. But if the price is an issue than that's another story. You could try hiding the powerheads behind the rocks on a wave strip. This worked great for me in my 125. I used 3 maxi 1200's

I was using 2 Maxi 1200's and a Koralia 2. I took the K2 out because the thing is just way too bulky. As for cashflow, I have about 300 and thought that the mp20 would be a great purchase for what I have.

I was looking into that. 15% off and no shipping since they will be at MACNA. My issue is that I might not be back from Myrtle Beach in time for MACNA.

ive always wanted one, but im afraid of some of my corals that dont like too much fow, and having to place them in different spots, just so the flow doesnt destroy them. plus i aways wondered if they were gonna make a model that swiveld in sum way. or is the fow created thru them so dispersed? if anyone has one, please gimme your review on the one you have. primarily the mp40. my tank is mixed, between mainly sps/zoas, some ps, two softies. sorry for the thread hyjack. thanx!

Really depends how your tanks set up. I have one all the way up top of my 215 and my zoo's and shrooms are fine on the bottom. The flow is kinda gentle from them unlike a powerhead it's more widespread. All the features are the nice part. Wave modes, reef modes, lagoon mode, night mode. I'm waiting on the swivel model too though

I have one on my 46gal and love it. It's a mixed reef and have no problems with too much flow. Mine is mounted about 8 inches from the top of the tank.

magic...whereis it mounted, on the back glass? i have a scwd so an addition of a vortech would sure make for a nice underwater reef current....

Side glass about 8 inches from the top. I have the flow turned down or I'd blow the coraline off the lr. I usually keep it in lagoon mode.
