ELOS owners - question on the overflow

The wife and I are going to do a pretty significant remodel in our home. With that will go a larger tank!! I have been very happy with my current 45 gallon cube, but it's time to go larger.

I'm eyeing the Elos 120, and planning on having everything in a fish room (i.e. the laundry room), so I'm curious how the stock Elos tanks are drilled for the sump. Is it drilled on the side or bottom? All I have been able to find is that it's in the corner. Is the overflow completely silent (ie. beananimal style) or is it like Niagara falls in sound volume. Any words of wisdom is welcome.

My plans, which will be documented in the Tale of the Tank will start in reverse, building the Fish room with proper Frag and Fish QT, the plan will be to move the content of my 45 to the fish room, first. Then after the remodeling of the home, I'll get the tank set up. This is going to take awhile, but I need to have the rough dimensions and how and where I will need a access hole to the basement for the Architects and designers as we begin the first phase.

I love Elos tanks and the small footprint of the overflows. I apologize for not having any input on the matter but I'm excited for this build. You did a fantastic job on the 45 build, I recall how everything was planned and very organized. Will be following along once you start your tale of the tank.

I have the Elos 160xl, drilled on the bottom corner overflow. The comment I hear most on the tank it how quiet it is, so I don't think you have to worry there. Have you gone to the Elos Aqua Studio to see the tanks?

Thanks Mike, yes been there a few times, but I always end up talking and buying other things, never looking at the bottom. :D
Thanks for the info. This should work very nicely for what I have planned.

I understand being distracted in that store, lots of goodies. Ours is in our living room which we spend 99% of the time in our house (outside sleeping) and we have no issues with it.

The cat's water fountain is louder than the tank.

Thanks for the info. Interesting as I just watched the video on the coralvue.com website which was from BRS, and at about 8:04, the rep says there are "never holes in the bottom". I guess he needs a update on the tanks.

I have an Elos 120 (in nearby Millburn). It is drilled, with a nice sump. It is pretty quiet, except for the pump that comes with the elos skimmer which vibrates quite a bit. Overall a very nice tank.

Thank mv123, maybe I'll run into you at the elos store one day. Seem I'm there every other week. I saw the 120xl set up and I'm hoping I can fit that into the new space. I went to see what capacity I need in the sump in case of a power outage. I have a lot where I live. I hope to order a sump in a week or 2.

There is about a 6 weeks lead time for just the tank and stand, but I have plenty of time.
