Emerald Crabs

I bought 4 about a month ago, one was a bit larger than the others. it has quadrupled in size, where the others are still small ( smaller than a dime ) is it possible that the large one isn't an emerald- it's not eating any corals, but moves large rocks to get to it's algae

I had given my emerald crab to a neighbor and then I decided to buy another one a few months later. That one got big fast and I kept finding it eating the polyps on my SPS. He was getting enough food since I over feed my tank 4 times a day plus the algae on the rocks. It's an opportunistic omnivore!

I got 3 emerald crabs, 2 went for my acros and got pulled... 1 (the only female) is hunting algae like a boss

Females look like the have a six pack with a rounded latch. Males have a pointed latch.

almost universally the underside of a crab is more rounded for females and pointed for males

Slightly different than this but same premise

Blue claw crabs were the only ones I ever learned to know the difference- only ate the males:)
