You can't get to him in the overflow with your hand or net?
I have had this happen to me with a couple of idiot green chromis. I named them dumb and dumber for obvious reasons. I have live rock rubble that sits in the bottom of the overflow that they hide in. They are just stupid enough to go over the water fall but not stupid enough to go down the flex hose when I pull the standpipe out of the bulkhead. Go figure.

You would think... Removing my lineatus and a clown from the overflow on my old tank used to be a weekly event lol. Sometimes I could net them but most of the time I had to partially pull the drain pipe and drop the water in the overflow until there was just and inch or two in it. Then my wife and her skinny arms would come to the rescue and she would grab the fish.
I did pick up some gutter guard and cut a piece to enclose the overflow a little better, but the little buggers would still find their way into there occasionally.
