ever plugged a tank?

hope this doesnt upset anyone,
i have a similiar thread going, but diff topic.

im going to re drill a 75 gal, has anyone ever sucessfully, or unsucessfully
closed up or plugged 2 bottome holes in a tank?
if so, how did you do it?

im thinking a good sized piece of acrylic, i have some 1/4", and a real good equal smooth layer
of silicone under it, let it dry reall good,
and maybe an equal piece on the bottom

what do you think?

Leave the bulkheads in the old holes and just plug/cap them.

Is there an echo in here?

Same question, different post, same answer!

Ryan, the above response from Brian is the best and safest way to plug up the holes. You could try a piece of glass that is held and sealed with silicone (reef safe silicone), but I’d feel more comfortable with bungs in the existing bulkheads.

Ok and sorry for the double post sort of

Also I decided I'm going for a drilled thru overflow instead to save the real estate

im sorry, but did someone delete a post on this thread? im goin nutz here.

i got an email notify that "mickrio' posted here about pluggin these holes with glass and silicone, and i hit the link
back, and the post is not here.

what the heck?

probably going with a double drain glass holes kit

Another smart reefer!

You will be very happy with the Glass-Holes overflow. Extremely well made, good value and the best part is that they take up very little real estate. I assume when you say the double drain Glass-Holes you mean the 1500 gph kit? That’s what I have on my 90 and I’m extremely happy. If you’re close by, you’re welcome to stop by and check it out.
