Feather Duster... I hope?

Howdy,

Daily inspection for today located what seems to be a feather duster... but I hope not Aiptasia... I have not added anything new to the tank for a while so I am not sure why anything appears abnormal. I guess I actually added some bumble bee snails - but thoughtfully cleaned their shells... Either way; let me know what you think. Not a great picture I know.

Its a mini feather duster. If you have one you'll have a few soon. Harmless and pretty cool. Sign of a healthy tank.
Vermitads have a similar casing but it's tight to the rock and they don't present a fan, just long silky tendrils (and they usually do this at night or after you disturb the substrate)

do they ever become too abundant in a tank?

No, they're pretty chill. You may find clusters of 2-3 in a few places, in an SPS tank with dosing some can grow a bit (like half the diameter of a pencil), but they're by no means a pest in a display like xenia, yellow palys, gsp, etc...

I accidently knocked it off when I was cleaning out vermetid snails

The feather duster may create another casing somewhere else in the tank. I have so many of them in white. My previous smaller tank had the most prettiest red fans.
