Wow! Things have come full circle. My first meeting was the joint Bobby Llama / Merv meeting, and then Booby got on his Llama to search for the great unspoiled reef....

Now that he is back it must be time for me to leave to follow the Great Llamas calling........

LOL, Hello Blange, Brian and Gang

It is great to be back. I do have some pics of the giant 29 biocube that I started. LOL I will get something up and running soon Phyl.

No don't follow my path, I am lucky to make it back ;D

Life does have a funny way about it.....I am glad mostly everyone is still here.

Thanks to a recent and unexpected change in my employement status, this may be a full circle thing for us too. We had our first meeting just after we started out in reefing and will be significantly scaling back right after this meeting . . .

In the next few days I'm going to inventory all of the excess equipment I have and post it up for sale. It will be available for pick up at the meeting.

Sadly, this economy resembles the major attribute of a vacuum cleaner.

im sorry to hear that about you guys john. I wish i could make the meeting but they put me back on shift work thankfully, just to get cut back again near the end of the month.

John. Sorry to hear this.
Do you happen to have a DC8 or 4 in your inventory for sale? Mine burnt out a few days ago. I sent it in for repairs, but I don't expect it back for awhile. I can't get used to turning everything on and off every day.

Really sorry to hear about the job. What kind of job are you looking for (the one on the beach drinking adult beverages is taken)?

Mike

I have a DC8 you can borrow.

Mike, we don't have a spare (right now, lol) but may after we move the basement back upstairs.

Bob, he's a Six Sigma Black Belt looking for a Logistics position in a manufacturing co.

with six sigma i'd imagine that skill set could be transferable to any company (manufac or not).

Sorry to hear about this. Economy stinks.

John, very sorry to hear this. My wife's company (Toys R Us Corporate) just laid off 50, and there's talk of layoffs even in the US Govt. if you can believe that.

WTF is a black belt in whatever?

i thought it was related to karate, lol. then i googled it!

The Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. A Black Belt should demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics and assign team member roles and responsibilities. Black Belts have a thorough understanding of all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with Six Sigma principles. They have basic knowledge of Lean enterprise concepts, are able to identify non-value-added elements and activities and are able to use specific tools.

Six Sigma professionals exist at every level – each with a different role to play. While implementations and roles may vary, here is a basic guide to who does what.

At the project level, there are black belts, master black belts, green belts, yellow belts and white belts. These people conduct projects and implement improvements.

* Black Belt: Leads problem-solving projects. Trains and coaches project teams.

* Green Belt: Assists with data collection and analysis for Black Belt projects. Leads Green Belt projects or teams.

* Master Black Belt: Trains and coaches Black Belts and Green Belts. Functions more at the Six Sigma program level by developing key metrics and the strategic direction. Acts as an organization’s Six Sigma technologist and internal consultant.

* Yellow Belt: Participates as a project team member. Reviews process improvements that support the project.

* White Belt: Can work on local problem-solving teams that support overall projects, but may not be part of a Six Sigma project team. Understands basic Six Sigma concepts from an awareness perspective.

Every project needs organizational support. Six Sigma executives and champions set the direction for selecting and deploying projects. They ensure, at a high level, that projects succeed, add value and fit within the organizational plan.

* Champions: Translate the company’s vision, mission, goals and metrics to create an organizational deployment plan and identify individual projects. Identify resources and remove roadblocks.

* Executives: Provide overall alignment by establishing the strategic focus of the Six Sigma program within the context of the organization’s culture and vision.
