Fellow reef moonshiners

I dabbled during covid. Started off with Applejack...delicious. Made wine from various supermarket juices...terrible. Got bored..bought a chinese pot still and dine some shine from the wine...yuckies.

Brewed beer for many years. Started with malt concentrates then got to a point where I was actually buying and sparing my own grains.
Was always curious on distillation, especially with those small oak staves you can add to your distillate to 'quick age'.
I've had my eye on a few copper stills with making bourbon in mind, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Was for a bit. Ran it on 2 systems. The monthly ICP tests and the amount of flouride I was using was just to much from a cost perspective to continue.

If I am not mistaken (and I dont think I am)..NJ recently passed a law allowing for small pot distilling non commercially...so pull the trigger.

Ha! Didn't realize reef moonshine was an actual thing.
Excuse my previous, uninformed, unresearched response. :)

Seems like a good way to do things, but it's a little intense from a cost / time perspective, especially with a couple rug rats running around.

it very popular on R2R
Social media marketing is powerful.

Can't go wrong with ICP testing though and dose accordingly. Sounds expensive.

Does not address the biggest problem a reefer face though which is algae and nutrient control. Chemistry is easy.

Not the micro trace elements, without icp testing, you can’t go wrong I think.
the nice part I think is once the tank is stabilized, all for reef has been helpfull
