I change mine every 5-6 days. It's the ones with the 4" ring.10 weeks sounds a little long for any size sock.I'd change that one now and go two week the most.

How often should I change my filter sock? It has been going for about 10 weeks and is starting to turn brown.
Holly Cow......10 weeks.....You are using the wrong micron rating. I change mine every three days. I use 25 micron. I think most use 100. The smaller the micron the better because it will remove more crap. The only downfall is you have to change the filter sock a great deal more.

I guess this is where I can see the difference between not having a skimmer. I change mine (200 micron) every 1-2 days and they are filthy.

Pretty clean tank if it took ten weeks to turn brown. You may not need them.

I change mine every other day. I love that dirty water...but not Boston!

YEs it is clean all my parameters are where they should be other than alk which is 8.6(i need to switch to reef crystals. I had algae problems for a few days then I bought one of those ebay $25 snail packages and with htem and the purchase of a yellow tank the algae is gone and the coraline algae is thriving. I dont want to jinx myslef but for the first time in 5 years I have a tank that looks great and doesnt have high nitrate.
