Filters for Typhoon RODI

I have the 5 stage Typhoon RODI from Air Water Ice. Do I have to use their replacement filters and DI Resin? Or are there others I can use?

Any 10" replacement cartridge will work, so typically BRS, Buckeye Hydro, Spectapure, AWI, etc. What is your raw water is like, i.e. well water, city using chlorine or chloramine?
I would also suggest you go through the sterilization process here:

Thanks....I have no idea what is in the raw water....all I know is it is hard water, but I there is also a water softener on the house. I will check out other filters....AWI wants a ridiculous amount for shipping.

I was thinking about sanitizing it to since it had been sitting for so long unused.

Do they need to be the same microns as the AWI filters? The filters they sell are a 10 micron sediment filter, a 5 micron Coconut Carbon Block a 1 micron Coconut Carbon Block and a Full size vertical color changing DI Cartridge.

I haven't found any other 10 micron sediment filters. And no clue what coconut carbon blocks are........

They do not have to be the same microns as what was in there. However, you do want your first filter....the sediment filter....to have a smaller micron size than the carbon block. If not, your carbon block becomes a sediment filter.

Coconut carbon is carbon made from cooked coconut shells. This only means that you have to put that little umbrella on top of you RO/DI unit....just like you see on fancy fofo drinks you get for your new wife.

Actually they are trying to differentiate it from other carbons. To me it's just hype. Bottom line, it works.

EDIT TO ADD:

Oops! I just said the first has to be smaller, and I went and looked up the set I've been buying for the past couple years. The sediment is 5 microns while the two carbons are 5 and 1 microns.

HERE's what I typically purchase when I'm changing out my filters.

When can I remove my foot from my mouth?

What do you use for DI?

I regenerate...and DI came from members who otherwise were going to throw it out. So I actually don't know the origin of the resin.....I'm not picky. One canister lasts me about a year....maybe about 20 gallons of water a week.
