I realize my Phosphates are through the roof. Crashed my tank in February trying to lower it via water changes and various phosphate reducers.

Do not run gfo, and feed mix of 3-4 days frozen pellets other days. Nori strip a day. Weekly 30 gallon water change. 150 system.

looks like all the numbers look good except elevated PO4. what salt do you use? with the amount of WC you do the water should be pretty similar to fresh mixed.

have mostly used reef crystals. switched to Tropic Marin Pro and seemed a little better than the manufacturing issues so back with Reef Crystals.
Have one more box, then will slowly switch to Red Sea Blue Bucket

A little more info. Been at this since 2014, currently with a red sea s500. and aside from a little dark red Coraline I don't get more to spread even when I have it on existing rocks or plugs I aquire. I do get montipora growth. I have had some success growing euphillia, and overall keep things alive when I am not trying to sabatoge my own success.
I was manually dosing to maintain 8 alk, 450 calcium, 1350 mag. But am now just a little more reliant on the water changes after my February partial crash, where I lost many SPS and LPS.

No. Not at all. It was the most screwed up fish day I have had ever. I have a connected 35 gallon frag tank. I had started seeing some some of the small red flat worms in the frag tank. even though the systems are connected, the wrasse probably handles them in the main tank. Anyway- I did one treatment about a week earlier. I use the recommended flat worm exit for the full system, BUT apply it initially to just the frag tank with return off so that it can stew and get more of the flat worms in the frag tank that I physically see. Sure they are in the shared sump as well. BUT the first time I let the frag tank soak for 20 minutes THEN turned on the return pump and circulated the system. After a half hour or so I drain the sump and do a 20 gallon water change and another in a day or 2. Worked well. basically use the phthon to drain the sump compartment and refill.
Keep in mind, this wasnt a huge infestation. Just some scattered here and there in the frag tank.
Anyway, I wanted to do a second dose to get any recently hatched flatworms.
AND THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED!

I did the full tank dose as I did last time.
As it was mixing in the frag tank I put the new salt water hose in place in the sump area. Turned the full system on and let it mix for 20 minutes again.
Then I started draining with the python. I also decided to use a hose and siphon some of the detritus from the frag tank into a 5 gallon jug as I had been slowly lowering my phosphates and at this point I was down to 0.92 from 1.64. so improving.
I have about 30 gallons of fresh mix available for a 20 gallon water change so no worries.

As its draining I did NOT realize that the draining cause an auto siphon from the fresh salt mix.

So as I was cleaning the frag tank, my fresh salt mix was pulling to the sump even though the fill pump was off.
I noticed right after dumping the 5 gallons of frag tank siphon water. Stopped the python draining and filled the sump with all I had remaining.
I was short about 10 gallons and had no other water in brutes available.
I still had flat worm exit I needed to be mixing in the system, So panicked a little and just disconnected the RODI ATO from the back of the red sea directly into the sump.
about 8 gallons I would guess. right before I turned it on I thought to myself, OOOPS, Shoulda drained all that to a bucket, warmed and mixed salt to keep balanced. But was too late so I just scooped a pitcher full of sump wtare mixed up some salt and added back to the sump. Not Ideal but have done before.

So I kick on the full system pumps and am blowing air as I am short water still. So I turn it off, and on every few minutes just to keep the water flowing as best I can nd diluting the flat worm exit further.
Meanwhile I start having snails fall off the walls in the frag tank. ****!!!!

While shutting the frag tank pump on and off- IT BLOWS! DEAD!!!
AHHHHHHH

So I panick further and just put a big hose to drain from the main tank down into the frag tank and go back to work for the remaining 2 hours.

I come back down to the tank and still looks like it is going ok. I try 3 spare return pumps I have and all have stray voltage. Guess thats why I took them off line back when.
ANYWAY- I cant just leave this hose I need to do something permanent. I figure I will just tie into the main red sea manifold and use the main return pump for both tanks.
E-X P-Z!

I took the end of the hose which had not been on in the 2 years I had it and opened the valve as a test, and a 10 inch long tube filled long dark brown blob shot through the tubing headed straight for the return pump area to the main display....
NOOOOOOOOO!
That shot directly over all my main SPS and most desireable SPS.

After connecting the hose to the manifold and turning things on. parameters were stable quickly.

I went to do my water change early that next morning and my Blueberry Torch and one of my 10 dragon soul torch were BJD. The Red Planet colony not looking good. My Solar Flare, walt disney, huge purple stylo colony and nice Monti, Slow Burn, and Kung Pao all looking bad too.
Over the next 2 weeks I would loose most of the valuable SPS and LPS including all dozen torches in my system. Seemed mushrooms also took a hit, losing my favorite - my red yellow green jawbreaker.

So was it high phosphates? NO. I have always had high Phosphates and Nutrients.
It was a combination of bad decisions, poor execution or ideas and just a bad day!

So was kinda broken after that. let things go a bit. was heart breaking. But slowly bouncing back.

Decided to do a ICP Test for RODI and main tank/frag
ICP for RODI has a little silicone, otherwise pretty clear overall.

BUT didnt know what to make of the actual ICP test for the tank.
Suggests some additives and dosing schedule for them. I may have those supplements so will do it shortly.

As for phosphates, I did add the zeovit rocks recently top try and build some more good bacteria to help reduce the waste and have been skimming wetter to remove more.

Do you have any recommendations for such a massage parlor? FWIW, there's a Happy Endings Massage Parlor directly adjacent to Sea Level Aquarium up on Route 46. Do they comply?
