First time going to a frag swap....

I just ordered tickets to frag swap 2013, never went to one. What should I expect, are they going to sell live stock, and dry goods, if so how much money should I bring? I know they're going to have speakers, what do they talk about? Can't wait.....

You just punched a ticket for a very exciting day. You will be left in a catatonic state of coral and dry goods overload that will just leave you muttering to yourself about how amazing it all is. Will there be corals? Oh yes there will be mind melting corals from all corners of the globe presented for your choice. You will drop to your knees and thank the good lord that he has the imagination to come up with the color combinations or at least access to the right drugs to bend his mind to create them (I have to assume the good lord can get his hands on some pretty primo stuff). Dry goods that will revolutionize your tank and give you a high five at the same time will be there for you to purchase. There is a specific formula that gives you the amount of money to bring: (The amount of money you should spend)x(The amount of money you can spend)x(The new credit card you will apply for while you are on site)/0. As you can see there is no rational answer out there, but realize you will probably spend more money then you think. We have three amazing speakers that will cram as much knowledge as they can into your brain and into your heart. The topics will be posted soon, we have not finalized them, but know you want to see them. Come with a skip in your step and love in your heart and you will have a fantastic time. I have not even gotten into the raffles and the goody bags as I have exhausted myself by getting so excited about this. I think I may go have a ham sandwich to build the energy reserves up again.

Considering there were no pauses nor any paragraphs... I'm betting you need some oxygen too Mike, LOL.

Seriously though, check out the frag swap drop-down menu at the top of the page. You will find directions, a floor plan (showing where the vendors will be at the Expo Center and will be updated as we get new ones signed up), a list of exhibitors (some banners are links to their websites to see what kinds of items they carry), and background info on our 3 speakers. From that, you should be able to get a good idea of what they will be speaking about at the event.

We'll also have a schedule put up there soon to let you know when the speakers will be on. When you walk in the door to the event, we'll have a handout with the schedule on one side, the final floor plan on the back.

There is always the debate for when you do your shopping. If you buy early you are probably going to pay the top price but you have the best selection. If you buy later you might get better prices as vendors generally want to get rid of things, but all the cherry stuff might be sold out. I have found I have gotten stuff at better prices in person at a swap then online. As you buy more stuff, people will cut you a deal.

Can't add much more to what mnat stated...My advice - if you have a budget, bring cash. If you don't have a budget, bring a credit card. A debit card works as usually there's an ATM nearby...lol.

Also - if you plan on being there the whole day, do yourself a favor and bring a small portable cooler to keep your items. Some vendors may be willing to hold your purchases to until you leave, but even so it's good to have for the ride home.

if you have something in mind you want to get ahead of time - you should ping the vendor ahead of time and if you pay in advance (sometimes they will even let you just reserve without payment) - they will then bring it on site. Saving you shipment costs etc. This also avoids the concern of a particular frag you want being sold because you arrived late etc.

There's also a cool raffle that if you are interested in - you could pick up some tix for. you'll be helping to support this club and also be in line to win a cool prize.
