Fish not eating misys shrimp.

In the last week or so, I have noticed my fish are not eating frozen mysis shrimp. They pick at it a bit, and often spit it out. They eat live black worms very aggressively. They feed normally on flake. The mysis shrimp batch expires in 2018. This is not a new purchased batch. I've been feeding them with it for months. It is hikari brand cubes. I used with and without garlic.

It may be too large for them, try chopping up the mysis before feeding

They ate it for 4 months prior. The fish have gotten bigger in that time. The blackworms are bigger than the biggest shrimp. They cram multiple blackworms in there mouth at a time. They might be spoiled by the live food, but they still like the flakes. I might take a break from the misys for a while.

yeah you spoil them rotten with live worms!!! (aka steak)

It would be like eating steak from the butcher and then the next time your mom gives you a frozen hungry man tv dinner (mysis). You ain't gonna eat as much either! ha ha ha!

I skipped the morning feeding, and waited until the afternoon to feed them. They ate the mysis. It probably not necessary to feed a tank with my stocking level more than once a day. I have a goby/pistol pair, 2 clownfish, a cleaner shrimp, 6 snails and a bunch o coral. 14 galons between dt and sump. Any opinions on how often to feed?

maybe once a day or every other day honestly. I only feed daily just because i have anthias and an idol. Even the idol doesn't need daily food, but it might help him stay away from any lps, i don't want him to get a bit hungry and test it out, lol. When i only had some tangs, chromis, firefish, and maybe one or two others, i fed every two day or so.

I been feeding twice a day. Nitrate sometimes get past 40 ppm between water changes. I will go back to once a day & see how that works.
