Fish trap needed

I acquired a 2.5" striatus tang about 2 months ago. Ever since it is in my tank the toadstool doesn't open, only at night and briefly. I caught him pecking around it and wont' move the fish to my sump and see if the leather opens more and during the day. A medium bottle trap won't fit in the tank. Does anyone have a trap I can borrow and get this guy out? I tried netting it but didn't work.

have you tried supplementing the tangs diet with nori - was thinking maybe it would rather not bug the toad stool if it had additional algae to feast on. Maybe try a clip in the morning and at dusk?

I was told that putting food in the net can work. I'm sure it depends on the fish. Might be worth a try.
