flood

because we need more drama in our lives. I did a water change and then started doing something else in the basement. I come back 10 mins later to find oh lets say like about 75 gallons of water on the floor going under the new wall we just put in. Thank god this wasn't a few weeks from now cause it would have killed the new carpet I just ordered. I opened the valve to much so the pump was sending the water upstairs to fast. so the frag tank couldn't drain fast enough. so the only place the water could go was over the sides.

Need to re-think the plumping situation before I completely finsh the basement.

That sucks. I'm sorry but I had to giggle when I read this. I can't tell you the amount of gallons that have been on our basement floor. No matter what you do you're still going to get that carpeting wet at some point.

Oh... sorry, Ed. That's a drag. :( At least the carpet wasn't there... yet.

Sorry to hear that Ed...have you thought about floor drains? If i could redo my basement i would add one (or two) somewhere.

That stinks, Ed. This type of thing happens to me so often due to interuptions. Actually, that's how i do my best water changes. All over the floor by mistake.

Not that this helps now, but a simple suggesstion can fix this. On any line that has a valve where I have had to "tune" it. I have another valve AFTER it. So when I change the valves to dump water for my water changes, I am hitting the 2nd valve which is just ON/OFF, not the first valve that is the tuning valve. $3 valve insurance policy.

I do the same thing as Phil. I have dual valves anywhere where I have a sensitive setting that I don't want to mess with.
