Foxface in a Fluval Edge!!!!!!????

Tang police Just ran across a Fluval Edge for sale on Craigslist, complete with a Foxface. Please tell me this isn't a members tank, and if it is, contact me so I can free that poor fish into a larger tank it needs! I'm not a hard core nut about a tank being too small for a fish within reason. We all know tangs can do well in smaller tanks for a bit till they outgrow it. And.... What's the option? Either they come home to an educated reefer in a 55 or 90 gallon tank, or Petco sells them to mom and dad trying to make the Finding Nemo cast in a kids 10 gallon!

lol. That was no dig on you Kyle. Trust me, I know you know what you're doing. Only reason I come all the way to that store versus Turnersville when I'm working. I've just seen the idiots tell people the tangs are fine in their nano cubes and such. Ultimately, the customer is gonna get what the customer wants, but just makes me insane sometimes to see these poor fish swimming like a betta in a cup.

no i know, I agree. I know fish have been sold when im not working to people who shouldnt have them. problem is that most of the employees are as uneducated as the customers in sa;twater. Company wide trainig would be nice -_-

foxface isn't a tang though...rabbitfish.

I feel torn on this. I agree the fish probably deserves a better home, but let's not forget a "better" home means not just size, but water quality, food, appropriate community mates.

What I'm saying is that at the extreme, one would argue no size aquarium is appropriate because these fish belong in the wild.

On the other extreme is, it's my money and i will do what i want with it. Or watch an episode of "tanked" to get a sense of huge tanks but poor fish selection.

Obviously there is a balance somewhere there. I would hope the club would strive for:

promoting captive bred fish
promoting captive grown coral frags
promoting good husbandry for the fish/inverts that we have (wild or captive bred).

In this case, it's #3 that seems to be the concern. I guess I would caution being too harsh on people who might make a mistake. The positive way to look at it is this - he had a nano, but was able to keep a foxface alive in it. That's pretty good.

oh and btw - this is one reason why i don't venture into big box store fish sections. Just too many horror stories...

Njrc hasn't put up a rabbitfish police emoticon yet..... Had to use the tang police one. I'm well aware. Lol
Used Tangs as a generalization on large fish that shouldn't be in a small tank.
