Fragging a Red Tree Sponge

I just received a red tree sponge from SaltwaterFish.com. The piece they sent looks great. The web site says the piece will be 4-5 inches but the piece I received is about 9-10 inches.

My question is...can I simply break the sponge in half to have two 5" pieces?

Any help would be appreciated.

looking at the picture, it seems just broken off from the bottom...

once you have it broken off, if you want to share the other half, let me know we can 50/50 on the cost...
