Price: $150

Pickup Location: Blackwood, NJ 08012 (I can also bring to April Meeting)

Reason for selling: I'm in the process of upgrading my 75g to a 120g so I've been upgrading my equipment along the way. I liked the BM
NAC7 so much that I got the "big brother" model (Hero 180) for my bigger tank.

Condition: About 2 years old, well maintained and cleaned up, ready for pickup. It came with 2 mesh wheels but I broke one of them on my first cleaning maintenance (improper removal method, my fault)... so it only comes with one. It used to have an issue with the Atman pump not starting after a power off. It ended up being a common problem with the mesh wheels getting stuck upon stopping the pump. This was easily fixed by adding a couple nylon washers on the impeller shaft to move it slightly away from the shaft housing (thanks redfishbluefish for this tip!). Never had a problem with it after adding the washers.

Pics: Freshly cleaned and not quite dry when I took these, but here you go.

Mesh Wheel Impeller - Newer models and replacements are the needle wheel type, but I never had a reason to replace this one.

Collection Cup and Lid - The model name is laser cut into the lid... fancy! The cup has a drain tube w/ plug. Remove plug if you want to drain into an external container.

This is the bubble level adjuster tube - Off is no air added so no bubbles and high water flow, MAX is lots of air/bubbles with low water flow, very easy to go right back to your perfect setting after maintenance! Numbers are on both sides and are the same setting no matter which side you choose. Convenient no matter which direction you have your skimmer setup in the sump. Adjust to lower numbers to raise the water level in the cone/neck, or higher numbers to lower water level.

That's about it. I can provide other pics if desired, just let me know. Please PM me and reply here if interested. Thanks for looking.

Lots of views, no replies. Price drop to $100. Need the space on my shelf in the garage. :D

Wow George, you're almost giving this away. Someone needs to jump on this. It's almost worth it just to have the spare pump! GLWS

Thanks Paul. Yea, I thought the $150 price was a steal too, but this thing just needs a good home other than my shelf, lol. Great working skimmer.

Would this be overkill for my 55 gallon?

Possibly, but not necessarily. The skimmer is rated for 130g, I used it on my 75G. Most people will agree that the mfr. ratings are inflated and you should always get 1 level above what they say. Most people will also suggest to go "bigger" because the trend in reefing is to upgrade in tank sizes, so you would be prepared WHEN that happens. ;) I don't think having a larger size skimmer will have any negative effect on your tank either.

Do you have a sump Karen? If so, what size? The skimmer will need about 9.5-11" depth also, so baffle height in the sump is something you need to consider.

I should also note the footprint dimensions of the skimmer itself... to make sure it will fit in your sump or under your stand: 9.2" Long x 8.5" Wide x 19.6" High

this is a steal!!!! I bought the same skimmer 2 months ago for $190 and it came with a bad pump. If no one buys this I just might buy it for the pump.

These are awesome skimmers. We have a nac7 on our 90 display and its amazing how much gunk this thing pulls out.
