I can tell you that 1/10th of a second after snapping that picture, the hog nearly latched onto the lens. It was feeding day, and I must have really ticked him off. Didn't know I could move that fast. :eek:

the snake was actually stretching its mouth getting prepaired to eat(or strike at the many flashes..lol). but, yes, if the mouth was always like that that is a sign of mouth rot and other deseases. thank you Reeflections for the heads up anyway.
 
no doubt, didn't want to be a "know-it-all" i've just had snakes for the last 15 years or so and wasn't sure of your experience, but it could also in rare instances indicate too marm of an enclosure, and they vent heat that way. and wendy if you ever see a constrictor with his tong out, like staying out without moving, back up!!!!! lol
