Got to love the Apex...

Although I barely have scratched the surface of what the Apex Jr can do, I really got a kick out of adding a fan to my sump. Tank has been running warm 82+ even with AC and basement sump, so I grabbed an old standing fan laying around and it quickly dropped the temp. Too quickly actually. My ph also took off from evaporation due to kalk in the top off. This was yesterday. Today I plugged it into my Apex Jr. Went to Fusion, set on at 81 and off at 80 and presto, worked like a charm. Add it the heater protection it provides, it is a no brainier to add to any decent system. I even impressed the wife...:)

I was all with you until you said, "even impressed the wife." I'm sorry, that's just too hard to believe! :)

Mark just curious, do you have the fan blowing air out of the room or blowing air over the sump.

Here is a list of all my apex things that I control/monitor:

Within Fusion I track all my measurements: ALK, CA, pH, Nitrate, Phosphate
I control the following:
3 AI Hydra 52s
2 Ecotech Vortechs
Water Level in tank
Temperature in tank
Dosing pumps
Return pumps
Davey Jones (when full alerts and turns off skimmer)
ATO

I also have it hooked up to a battery backup which then senses a power failure and turns off non-critical equipment while my generator kicks in.

Amazing! I'm going to need another energy bar:)

Last Winter I bought a second hand Apex Jr with no display for $115. It is in my basement in my filter room. Initially setting it up was difficult without a display but Neptune support was great and talked me through it. It controls my return pump, skimmer pump, fuge light, and heater. Now when I spot feed my corals I no longer have to go to the basement and turn off the pumps, I just use my phone.

Having it alert me when my ato is empty in case of emergency sound like a good idea also.

Here is my recent Apex fan log. It this too much on and off? I have it set up to go on at 80.8 and off at 80.1, I didn't want to swing the temp to drastically, but the on and offs seem excessive. Any thoughts?

Do you think 1.5 degrees is too drastic compared to 0.7 degrees? The bigger range would decrease the cycles. I guess real question is what is more important, staying within a degree or the on/off cycle? I don't completely understand the need to maintain the 7/10ths stability, does this have to do with SPS growth, health or something else?

I just thought a 1.5 degree change numerous times in a day would be bad.

I could be wrong but if it was a 1.5 degree swing throughout the course of a day i wouldn't see any issue with that, but multiple times during the day could possibly present a problem, just keep an eye on the inhabitants and if you see any problems i would try and correct the temp swing, i would think it would only bother more sensitive coral like sps though. 1.5 through the day is much more stable then a bunch of peaks and valleys. Grats on the apex, this has been on my list for a long time, just waiting for the funds to do it, and like you i'll be going for the Apex JR. Can't add as many modules but i'll be happy with the base and an extra eb8 along with a breakout box, i can then get rid of my 3 timers for the dosing pumps (hate those things), and the many power outlet bars below my tank. I have three extra right now just so i can throw a random switch instead of unplugging things depending on what i'm doing, pressing a button on my phone sounds so much better.
