Group Buy Suggestions

Jose, we usually do a "long bulb" group buy right before our annual Frag Swap. Since we rescheduled the Swap to be in June 2013, we'll look into having a GB that includes long bulbs like May 2013 or something like that. With more and more people switching to LEDs, this isn't as popular as it used to be... but we'll try to work this out if there's enough interest.

My understanding is the more you buy the bigger the discount. For example cost on a single mp40 is around $425, but if you buy multiple or bought multiple then it may be say $375. I may be wrong though.

If that's true, then I'd be interested in hearing more about it. Would we have to order direct from EcoTech or through a supplier?

What would the breakdown be for discount tiers?

My understanding is that there are some companies that will not offer any discounts on their products, regardless of the type of purchases. Unless it is for obsolescent products.

Bob, you might want to reconsider propane when you look at the consumption on generators. From Sandy, I heard some folks went through 6 – 7 hundred dollars of propane in a week of running their generators. I had gasoline and would guess that I used considerably less than 100 dollars in gas in a week of running it 24/7.

Paul,

Outages are a crap-shoot as to duration. I can swap propane tanks three blocks from my house quite quickly, and not have to wait on a local 60+ line of people waiting at a gas station (if a local one actually has gas) with their 5g red gas cans for gasoline. A $700 week's worth of propane would still be less than the cost of replacing the specimens I lost to Sandy...

Thanks,
Bob

Is there any reason I should wait a little bit before I order my controller. I'll be PO'ed if I miss a good deal.

does anybody offer deals off controllers in a group buy situation? or are they like vortech where the price is the same everywhere?

I was just looking at the Instructions thread from a old PA buy and the only things listed as no included are AI and Ecotech. Hopefully they are included no biggie though

From my past experience, Premium and Champion offer the GB discounts on controllers. When these buys come around I usually get what I need like another PC4, ALC, SL1 or a float switch.

So are you saying I should wait a bit. Im in no rush but at the same time money is burning a hole.

If you're not in a rush John, I'd say wait because 10-15% is a big savings on a several hundred $ purchase. At least wait til next week when we have a schedule to see how*long you*need to wait.
