Hair Algae - Sea hare

I bought a sea hare Friday from R2R to help control some hair algae. It just exploded in the past couple months. Anyway the sea hare was doing fine eating the HA and this morning I found it dead. Not sure what happened. How can I rid the tank of the HA now? Should I scrape it off the glass and turn lights off for a few days? I run GFO and carbon.

Have you ever tried the Mexican Turbo Snails (these are the large ones about 1.5" - 2")? They (4 of them) keep my 75 Gallons glass spot less. Just a thought. These snails do knock down stuff or move stuff around if it's not glued down. :)

Mark,...um..you killed a sea hare?.lol I have heard people have done this in the past-a couple of reasons why this could happen:
1.too much light and no water in the tank
2.No salt in the water
3.too tight of a cover and no aeration in the tank(aka: the tupperware affect)
All kidding aside,it could of gotten stressed maybe by other fish and or caught on a powerhead?OR maybe he ate some bad algea?..lol I would try the snails someone else suggested...gd luck bud and thanks for the laugh

I have the little Blue Leg Hermits and they absolutely devour GHA. Actually any algae besides bubble algae is quickly eaten up by them. For some reason though, it seems like it's only once they get bigger.

If my lawn looked as good as the algae my neighbors would envy me.
I will scrape what I can off the glass as it is long and get some turbos.

Thanks Dave. I have a filter sock going into the sump from the overflow. Plan is to turn off all PH and scrape catch what I can and let the sock get the rest.

The only thing that worked for me was water changes a little more often and changing the carbon more often. Make sure your using good water for top off and water changes. You can try to siphon it out as you scrap it off the glass.
