Hair Algae

Seeing the post about Petco putting fresh water sharks in a reef tank got me thinking. When I was young I had a few fresh water tanks with the usual fish, guppies, platies, mollies- most come from brackish water. I've read multiple posts on Fb about people using them to get rid of hair algae and the great job they do. I don't have a hair algae problem, but some here do. has anyone used them for this- they are cheap enough- some under $5. I also wonder if there are some that are better at it or do better long term in a reef tank. If they are actually good and have a decent life span in a reef tank, once it has done it's job it can be rehomed in another reefers tank

Mollies are very good at and seem to thrive in SW. When 1st started I added a pair of sailfin mollies and they ate that stuff up. Problem - they mated and the other fish went crazy eating the babies. They even attacked the female as she gave birth; the male tried to protect her and babies. Unfortunately, the other fish destroyed the mollies.

I guess the solution is to not buy a pair lol
