Halide bulb wont stay lit

Have a 150 bulb in my 6 ft fixture that wont stay lit.....fires up and fully illuminates and then it goes out after about 10 mins.

Before I rip the fixture apart should I be thinking its a ballast issue or a bulb issue....has done it 2x today already. Bulbs are new ans ballasts are a few years old.

Everything is built into the fixture so its not a simple thing to swap out a ballast

Have you switched the bulbs around to see if the problem follows the bulb?

not yet....unit is still hot and the t-5's are still lit.

Gotta get a helper to get it off the tank (wife when she is in a good mood)(everything's internal) So it weighs a ton and at 6ft long I dont wanna lift it myself

I had the same issue with my sunpod lighting fixture when trying to light the 20k radium bulb.
The issue was that the ballast was getting too hot and would shut off to protect itself.
I fixed it by removing the ballast from the fixture and replacing it with an external one. Havent had any problems since.

Took out the last 2 old internal ballasts and sockets this morning.....replaced with all new ballasts and sockets I got at Icecap.

Lit up when I tested it outside....am waiting for them to come on for the day to make sure its a go and they all stay lit

It's you ballast. I have 2 400w double ended bulbs from Ice Cap. This has happen a few times to me, to the point Im concidering getting different light fixture. Before sending it back call the manufacture.
