Hamburger in tank.

There was a mini food fight  in my house at lunch and I just realized that one of the burgers was floating in my tank. I'm in the middle of doing a good sized water change right now. What else should I do? I'm going to test the nitrates in a min at post those. I'm just worried about the grease. Will it mess anything up or what about the preservatives. Any input on the matter would be great.

For starters, in the future, buy leaner hamburger meat.

Now add a little ketchup, mustard and a thin slice of red onion, and you should be just fine……cheese is optional.

Actually, I don’t see a problem…..you’ll be just fine…..maybe add a canopy to your tank if this food-fighting becomes problematic.

It was a BK burger so it think it just had mayo and ketchup on it ;) . As far a canopy goes it might be difficult being its a bow front.

So the more important questions. How does one bring home BK burgers (and I’m assuming frys, and what not), that ends up in a food fight? Did someone want McDonalds instead?

Someone ate all the bacon out of the "bacon sundea". Started with fries then lettuce then burgers. LOL. All in good fun. Only downside was I had to run out and reorder everything.

My first thought was Cool, Food fight!!! Then when you were concerned about grease, I think no sweat. Oils float if you have an overflow it will leave the display tank. If you have a skimmer, i would guess eventually it would take it all out, but I have no experience with it.

I can say however that we had a member whos kid threw doritos in his tank with no ill effects. Good luck, but I'm pretty sure you'll be OK

Well I think I'm in the clear. Outside of the GSP everything else seems fine(GSP completely closed is what made me look at the tank and find the burger). I'm pretty sure it will open up tommorrow. Thanks for all the imput.

Give the gsp some Tums.

I loath that term bullet proof. I always had a tough time keeping GSP until recently.

Mine went from a fragplug to a 4x4 mat in a couple of months.

It finally opened back up. Whats funny is I didn't even notice until it was closed that it smothered out some zoa's. The zoa's were in all there glory having full light for 2 days. LOL.
