looking into buying the phosphate one. How many tests do you get out of the original contents. Also are the alk and Ca ones worth getting? I mostly see people only using it for phosphate

I like the phos and alk. The calcium is difficult and finicky in my opinion. I would go API or Red Sea on the calcium

I forget how many tests came with it but another 20 or so packets was about $8, so its totally worth it. I use the ALK and Phos ones but nothing else as of right now.

Order more reagents as the Phos kit does not supply many with the device.

Okay will do. I see they naked them for almost everything like nitrate etc. Too bead they don't offer a complet bundle

the nitrate checker is a a fairy tale... I was on the phone with them 3 weeks ago and they said that one is still not avaiable

+1 - I have all 3 - I've used the CA a couple times but it's so finiky it's hard to rely on - look on RC - there are rants that go on for pages. a lot of people say they wish they had found those (rants) before they ordered so read at your own risk... I'm color blind and got sick of asking my wife for help so I tried it in spite of the complaints -- truth is if my Alk is ok, I'm not as worried about Ca - I just rely on Alk.... so I use the Ca more as a fun experiment

I was reading about that idea too. What do you run your ALK at and what is your PH? I thinking of running my alk at about 10 dKh. but it appears that would lead ot high PH of 8.4. Is that good?

My pH is usually around 8 at midnight (when I usually check) and I'm trying to get my Alk up to 10. My CaRx was out of commission for about 2 weeks and it dropped everything down. The Rx is a MTC mini-cal. I spoke with Jeff from MTC and he gave me the idea of focusing on Alk. He's light years ahead of me so I'm following his suggestion.
at this point I don't have much demand. I still haven't finished my light & hood project so I haven't invested in much coral. Just some frags.
