Is this better than carbon dosing?
Was going to start Vodka dosing tomorrow.

It's totally different. Vodka will fuel bacteria in your reef. Great if your tank is stable + mature with no cyano, with elevated nutrients to fuel the bacterial growth. If you have cyano present, vodka will likely make it worse. If your tank is already low nutrient vodka will make things worse.
The snow is more of a flocculant which binds waterborne particles, aiding in clarity, possibly causing more to be skimmed out (I was never able to tell). Cyano seem to proliferate for many reasons. Immature biome, bottomed out nitrates + phosphates, and lack of flow over sand bed are the most common that I've seen and experienced. It doesn't raise your calcium levels because the carbonate precipitates out of solution and settles on surfaces (bound with dissolved organic). I believe calcium chloride is the form that raises your calcium levels.

Tanks around 3 months 75lb of live rock and 90lbs of dry new rock plus 50 lbs of dry sand
Nitrates almost 0-5
Phosphate 0.07

3 months is prime time for cyano, even with live rock. Keep the nitrates higher and you should see the cyano clear faster. 10-15ppm. Getting below 5 in a new tank seems to make it worse. I used get cyano all the time in tanks after the first couple of months running lower nutrient. My last 2 tanks were started with live rock, not letting nitrate or phosphate drop, and I never saw a drop of cyano . If you’re feeling the itch to dose bacteria, microbe-lift special blend used to clear it up back in the day. Warning, smells like a sewer

Hmm sounds like a good plan to test out would

My tank is several years old and as of last week Nitrate is 3 and Phosphate 0.15.
I don't consider these numbers high; if I am wrong chime in.

Not sure if I should try this or dose Vodka.
