Heater Controller

The ink bird (I have a different brand and it stopped working within a month) will turn the device off when the temp reaches the high and turn it on when the temp reaches a low in the heat more. It will do the reverse in the cold mode. So only one sensor is needed.
i believe the dual sensor is for heating protection, somehow it stops the heater from cooking your tank.

so the inkbird has two modes? do you have to switch from one to the other or is it always on? is it the 308S?

I've been running a Ranco for several years now, but it recently passed away on me. I have a duplicate backup for it, but I preferred to keep it on the sidelines as I've been using it to dissolve the bottom solids in the gallon jugs of my ESV Alkalinity two part supplement whenever necessary. The two things that have prevented me from replacing the dead Ranco are (1) it doesn't measure temperature to a tenth of a degree (like my Apex probes), and (2) I've come across references to an allegedly more reliable controller in a few related posts --- which I unfortunately can't point you to at the moment.

the inkbird is cheap enough that if it doesnt work or breaksdown i wouldnt even care. i mean i will probably buy a 2 year warranty using squaretrade anyway but thats just a few bucks extra
