Heater Failure

So around 5am this morning , my apex alarm kept going off. i was dead asleep and heard it, but for the most part just rolled over, ignored it, and went back to bed.

After I couldn't go back to sleep from all the noise, i made my way to my tank to find that my heater died on me (hence y the apex was going off like crazy) I had the alarm set to notify me when the tank temp was below 75'

So in short , in had an extra heater, plugged it in and am now, bringing it back up to temp (78'). I'm going today to pick up 2x heaters, one to hook up as a back up and the other as a spare

Best bet is to run the back up heater about half a degree lower, say your heater kicks on at 78 degrees, run the backup to kick on at 77.5 and have the alarm trigger at 77.7 or someplace in between.

And since you have a controller, why not try out titanium heaters?

Good catch Marcus! Your Apex screaming at you with an alarm is like your wife, listen to it next time!

Definitely dual heaters and through a controller, but my other piece of advice, and it sounds like you were set, is to have a spare heater ready to go.

Yea, I had this spare one for my mixing station. so I just pulled it. if i can I'm going to get another neo therms and have it as my back up, then replace my mixing station heater

Originally , I never added a second mainly due to my cramped space. so now I have to see where and how I can conceal an additional heater
