Heaters

As the winter gets here I was wondering what people use for heaters last year not thinking i just stuck a random heater in the sump. Then I here about tanks crashing because there heaters crack and wipe everything out. So my question to everyone is what is a good heater and what do you guys use?

Get yourself a good titanium heater that has a controller

+1 I've always had success with Finnex if you're looking to not go too expensive. I know there's been mixed reviews on them, well and just about every heater on the market for that matter. Trust me, I had my nano go up to 94 degrees because of a cheap heater!

I'm an Eheim Yager believer. Quality heaters, but long.

My second choice is Sera's...a few inches shorter.

I use jager and strongly recommend a controller. Every heater has the ability to fail with catastrophic results. I had a Finnexx heater fail and the controller saved my tank.

With my new tank I went with eheim's. In the past I've had aqueons and deep blue heaters. I liked the deep blue more but lost it when my power strip burned up from a skimmer leak. So far I like the eheim. No controller here, hopefully that will change at Christmas.
