Hello everyone new to the njreefers club site

Hello everyone, I'm Addison I came over here from reef2reef after perusing the reef2reef local clubs and thought I would start by introducing myself. It wasn't until I started planning my second tank, that will be an upgrade in general moving to a larger system that I realized I wanted to connect with people more locally as well as online in the hobby.

A bit about myself, I've had fish tanks growing up always wanted to do saltwater but it wasnt until a couple years ago when I moved from Washington to NJ that I really had the funds and the opportunity to start up a saltwater system, before I had a small cichlid tank and decided that moving and trying to cross country move a tank was going to be difficult that I found my way to finding a lfs to take my fish and broke down the tank, giving me an opportunity to start fresh.

A couple years pass by I wouldnt say my 20 gallon set up was a bright a shiny success but I've learned alot and enjoyed the hobby through highs and lows and want to expand by moving to a larger tank where I have a bit more freedom in what I can keep.

Currently I'm on the tail end of a deployment with the NG in NJ and will be back stateside in about a month and home back in NJ shortly after.

Now about my upgrade, I've purchased and waiting for shipment of the new Waterbox frag 85.3 system they released on Blue Friday (Nov 1) when I started my plans for the upgrade way back at the beginning of this year I wanted to stick with a bit more shallow reef tank style, sadly infelt the old frag systems they had weren't tall enough for what I wanted, so I planned around a larger taller tank before the 85.3 release and in thinking and going back over old notes I wrote down in the beginning the new system was exactly what I wanted a bit more height in the tank. So currently I'm watching websites for sales fornthe holidays and slowly purchasing equipment. The new tank will also be started most likely a mix of dry rock and some cured live rock, my 20 gallon nano will be up and continue to be ran during the cycle time and slowly the current inhabitants will be transferred with some cautionary steps in between (coral wise) with dips to prevent transfer of red planaria that currently has a presence in ym 20gallon system.

Being able to make friends in the hobby locally will be great and allow me to gain new experiences and knowledge I hope to be able to join in on the meetings starting in 2020

Thank you, I did have one question on the membership, is it yearly or monthly? Another question as I plan to keep a Build thread for the the new tank on r2r, would it be alright to have the build thread there linked on here in a Signature?

I plan to keep a thread with the new tank here as well.

Membership is annual you can see the application under join. At this point the member ship fee is due on your yearly anniversary.
You can link the build here but it is preferred that you have a build thread for us to view on the club forums it's not mandatory but it helps us learn from one and another

Welcome welcome welcome. There are some great people here. In my short time in the hobby. This forum has been a fantastic source of information and people really go out of there way to help. I look forward to your future posts and sharing pics of all the interesting tank inhabitants
