Help fish loss…

32 gallon biocube setup mid-January. Have had a couple clowns for a bit over a month, a cleaner shrimp and added a flame angel ~2 weeks ago. Everyone eating fine, clowns not paired but were hanging together off and on. Came down this am to find we lost the angel overnight (found him against power head) and then I come home this afternoon to find one of the clowns the same against the power head beside intakes, so 2 fish in 24hrs against the side of power head, tunze 6020 turbelle nanostream. Is it the power head???(Did I jinx it wanting AI Nero’s for some auto control). Readings look clean. What do I do? Advice/thoughts?

I don't think it was the powerhead, typically fish can get away from a pumps in-take assuming they are in good health w/o issue (unless it's a massively oversized pump which that unit is not)

Have you checked the salinity?

Another thought could be the angel itself. If you didn't quarantine, it's possible it could've spread something in your tank. (Assuming the clowns were ok before you added the flame)

This happened to me when I first started this hobby. Turned out to be CO2 in the water. I had to out an air lump outside and run a long air hose the tank. Can also setup a CO2 scrubber.

Thanks all, no quarantine tank, salinity ok. The remaining clown is doing ok currently. Good to hear it should not be power head related, figured just they get sick and then are not strong enough to escape or it grabs them once gone but seemed odd both times in short span.

My guess is definitely the angel. Clowns are very hardy. Can i ask where did you get the angel and do you have any pics when it was new?

Sorry if I’m not following, so you think the angel was sick and the clown perished due to the angel?

It was a Petco (Ramsey) purchase. I ensure I don’t introduce their water to my tanks but I do get fish at petco’s especially this one was such a beautiful fish.

Oddly enough I can’t find any pics atm but pretty sure I have. It was about 2.5inches beautiful bold red coloring. Never appeared sick or off. It picked mostly at rocks and got along with everyone from what I observed.
