Help me decide what protein skimmer for my frag tank

Howdy,

I am looking to get a skimmer going in my frag tank as films of protein are growing all over the glass. It's a 34 gallon tank with a 15 gallon sump.

I was looking at icecap k2-50 or the k1-100.. I've heard good things about both.

I will only have 2 fish most ever. Wrasse and an algae eater I just don't know the algae eater yet

I have an ASM g1 skimmer I can part with. Works like a champ.

If interested let me know. Personally I dont know anything about the 2 skimmers you mentioned.

For what it’s worth. Except extreme miss sizing. It is pretty hard to get tooooo big of a skimmer. Most manufacturers rate on one heck of a curve. And when it comes to filtration.... always error on bigger. Yes way to big can make tuning a little tricky. But the solution to that is feed more and everyone is happy

Understood - I just think a skimmer rated for 120 heavy load is probably too much for 50 gallons light load .. if I can find one Max load 100 gallons I'd consider it

just to add to this, when a skimmer shows its max rating.. it usually for the highest capacity tank it can handle on a light bioload, never a heavy bioload.

for me, theese are the gallons i would use for the skimmers.
Eshopps S120 40-75g
IC K2-120 - 40-75 gallons
IC K1-100 40-60 gallons
IC K2-50 - 20-40 gallons

i used an older gen s120 on my 34 gallon and then switched out to a BM Curve 5
