Chromis viridis is a species of damselfish. Technically Sunny was correct. Generally they are less aggressive.
I would suggest gobies or blennies ....you can buy a pair of cleaner gobies or even a pair of some blennies which would make a nice addition and a different fish than your current ones. The competition between anthias or wrasses and chromis could be trouble as they occupy the same territory.

it's not a damsel. damsels are the devil! it's a blue reef chromis and a great fish i attached pics of the 2 different types.

Trust me dude, it is nothing less than a damsel. Just wait for it to turn mean.

Mags, a quick question on the reef chromis. I'm looking to add some to the fish I have, everything I've read is that they have the same temperament as blue/green chromis. Is this your experience?

up to this point the i've had zero issues with the reef chromis. it's actually a beautiful fish with the dark blue/black coloration.

hopefully it doesn't turn mean!!! it's been a really good fish for me up to this point.

@Sunny I think you answered your question to me as to why I didn't advise those fish, but you're right. I should have elaborated on my reasoning.

@jmags080307 I have the same situation with my tank. I break every reef rule in the book with my tank and I still can't keep my nitrates high. I came to a conclusion that my skimmer may be too large for my tank (40 Breeder) and possibly something with my carbon reactor.

Be careful with what you are looking to add. I can't tell you what to/not to add becuase it's your tank. All we can do is simply give you suggestions.

Honestly, it's great to be able to bounce ideas off other reefers and get pros and cons of things. This thread has been great to me personally and will help me refine what fish i ultimately choose. I appreciate all the comments from everyone.

I dunno, I was told that about my blue/green chromis, they're still growing, but they haven't even started in on themselves much. The little amount of bickering I did see, was gone once I added the anthias.

We all take risks to some degree with fish in a tank, for saltwater it ranges from clown fish to lets say blue ring octopus. Most of us would agree risks with clowns are minimal. We all get to make choices, I have two tangs oh no ...never a problem. So good luck..you may or may not need it.

Never understood why someone would keep one if the deadliest animals in the world in their tank. One touch can be lethal. I'm nervous to get stung by my blackspine urchin!

It must be the feeding. i don't have an issue keeping them reasonable, but never have to dose. I'm feeding PE Calanus once a day, reef frenzy twice a day, reef energy a&b every other day. I spot feed the coral twice a week with either calanus or a reefroid/coral candy type food.

@jmags080307 So I spoke too soon. I had a phosphate crash to 0.00 over the weekend. I've turned off the GFO, and dialed back my skimmer.

@dangerdave that stinks but at least it's an easy fix. When I first started my tank i was told to run GFO and my corals always looked blah and not much growth. I stopped running GFO a year and a half ago and everything is great! If my phosphate got too high, i would use it to bring it back down. Haven't had to worry about that yet[emoji41]
