Help with CO2 Regulator...

Ligershark said:
this came with needle valve and solenoid valve. im sure what youre seeing is a replacement part. allquatics in hamilton on south broad st. uses this co2 regulator on their calcium reactor in their show tank.

i got misunderstood there..

i was curious if the reef fanatic regulator came with a bubble counter... then i listed some more questions about other stuff :D

sorry about that...

I bought that needle valve from PA. It wasn't exactly what I thought it was...it seems to be a replacement valve for a certain type of regulator. I was hoping I could just put it inline and crank up the the old needle valve and adjust the Co2 with the new one, but it doesn't work like that. :(

This is a great thread...I am having the same problem...I set my bubble count and a few hours later I have this steady stream of microbubbles...it's driving me insane...I'm going to check the pressure out of the tank now...I never knew about that little trick!

ok.. so what bubble counter do i need? if i change regulators..

and how is that regulator Francis?

That regulator is not in use as of yet :( looking to get a calcium reactor in the next month or two.

awesome then, what time should I come over this weekend to pick up the regulator! :p

my effluent is set as a steady pour... and it the bubbles stops in like 5 minutes..

and its only a maxijet feeding the system, same as when i started the system a year ago...

thanks for the link Rich..

Maybe this will help.
Copied from a post on RC:

You need to make sure you setup the regulator valve correctly.
(This should be done in an open well ventilated area).
You need to disconnect the 1/4 line and solenoid, close the needle valve close the regulator valve then open up the main valve all the way. Then open up the needle valve all the way and adjust the regulator valve for 15psi or 1 Bar on the regulator pressure gauge. Next close the needle valve and reconnect the lines You should then be able to open the needle valve and get a proper bubble count. If it does not settle exactly right after a few hours then adjust needle valve again.

If it still does not work some people say they need to up the pressure a little higher to say 18 psi. You need to follow the above procedure again and set it higher.

I could be wrong but I don't think there is a problem with your regulator. I just think there is some pressure issues.

i am going to order a reef fanatic regulator and hope for the best..
i took the one i have now, all apart and it still isn't working..

I couldn't adjust the pressure coming out the tank to be anything but 40 psi. No matter how much or how little I turn the valve on the tank it's always 40. Now I'm wondering if I need a new regulator, or if the valve on my tank is shot.
