The sun coral needs to be hand fed some meaty foods such as frozen mysid shrimp. You'll have to feed each individual head a few times a week.

The kenya and polyps will filter feed from the water and photosynthesize from the light.

The elegance will do better with being target fed too. Either mysis or silversides work well for this.

Personally I'd stop using the microvert as all it is really doing is adding nutrients and garbage to your water.

The Kenya trees and the polyps filter the food from the water column. The sun coral needs to be target feed meaty foods mysis, krill. The elegance also needs to be target feed silversides and are very finicky about water quality with the bio load that you have (tangs) I'd keep an eye on the elegance. Get yourself some Rod's Food it feeds the entire reef (still have to target feed with it).

The sun coral and Elegance are generally hard to keep high maintenance corals. the sun coral for instance needs each head fed every nite in general if you miss a day here and there it's not a big deal. the elegance definitely needs to be target fed. in general if you have to ask how to feed something you probably shouldn't have it, just my opinion. In the future you should only have corals that you know how to take care of. we were all new in the hobby at one point and we all make mistakes, i know i have. go slow and ask lots of questions. it's the only way to learn.

Good luck

I hear what your saying, but when you have a local fish store that sells you things and gives you bad advice thats where my problem was. I only started coming on these forums when things started going wrong and i started losing corals, well you right and if anyone is interested in an elagence or sun coral please let me know as i dont want to lose them, i would rather see them in a reef where someone knows how to care for them, and thru this forum and lots of questions i can grow my knowledge and in the future upgrade to a bigger tank and try it again.

That does suck, i wouldn't go back to that store if i was you. There are plenty of good reputable LFS around. This forum is a great place to learn and pick up information. don't be afraid to ask any questions, in this hobby there is no such thing as a stupid question. I've been in this hobby for about 3 years now and i still ask questions, but i have learned a whole lot from the folks here. There is always something to learn.

Good luck.

In order to target feed sun coral, you can get a turkey baster and put airline tubing in it filled with mysis. Then go over each polyp and give each one one mysis shrimp. You can easily do this every night without hassle as the sihpon will help u keep track of feeding. This is how I did my feeding in seahorse tank with a suncoral in it.
