I can't picture what you're looking to do, maybe if you draw something up and post it, it would make it easier to picture.

I think what he’s talking about is using a rigid J tube as his return line, that would be hooked over the top lip of the tank. I see no problem with that, as long as you have a siphon break in there.

I come up over the back of the tank as well, but I used rigid PVC with Loc-Line pieces on the ends.
