Came home and my ACJR's temp. was reading 107degrees. I stuck my hand in the sump and the water only felt like 80.
What would I use to recalibrate my probe?
Thanks in advance.
I know you can mike MINOR adjustments via the calibration function to match it up with a second or third temp probe, but 27*? I'm not sure that is within tolerances. I wonder if it needs to be cleaned? Otherwise I'd think it needs to be replaced.
Mike,
I've heard that the ACJR's temp probes go bad, I know a couple of people that had to replace them. They said the same thing as you, temp was reading over 100 but a regular glass thermometer read 80. They called the manufacturer and they said to replace the probe. Once they got a new probe and installed it everything was fine.
I think you need to change it mike.. Let me tell you I have 2 temperature control ( coralife) but the funny thing is both of them read differently . this morning one is 77.2 the other one is 78.5 .. This temp also is driving me nuts lol...

Simple test. Unplug the Temp Probe. If the display shows near 20 degree, then the probe has gone bad.
The newer replacement ones ($29) are twice the size and have been encased in Epoxy to make them more durable. Plus they had a bad batch of them last year that all failed within a few months of use.
You can calibrate a temp probe by filling a cup with ice and then add cold water to the cup. Put the probe in the cup and after about 10min it should read close to 32f. I had the same problem with a neptune temp probe about 8 months ago. Replaced with a newer type. works great.
