How many people here run a NeoZeo/Zeovit based tank?

Maybe in the future.. but really since I asked Chris at NJRC swap he said if those I am dosing is working is stick with it and don't really need the stones.. So for me the Man behind it said that so I am sticking it with what Im doing for now..

Go for it, Steve! The rocks work and work WELL.

The Brightwell rocks are more forgiving than the true Zeo rocks from what I've read.

if your not useing the zeolith media or neo zeo you cant get the full advantage of a bac system. My 300 gal system using 3000 grams of zeolith stones test at 0.00 po4, and its completly overstocked with coral and fat well fed fish.Completly alge free. No po4 media as in gfo is used to keep po4 low its done all with bac and a fuel source.

s

I love being able to throw a ton of food into my tank with the rocks on and never get spikes in PO4 or Nitrates.

Love it.

I'm saying it from my own experience trust me, the zeo stones are a whole different animal......combined with start 2 there is no room for err.

Why/how are they claimed to be more forgiving.

I've heard it talked about a few times and Stan mentioned it when I talked to him about Zeo a while ago when I visited his place. Everything I've heard says that true Zeovit is a lot less forgiving and much more hardcore than NeoZeo. There's definitely a reason for the big price difference, also, IMO. But the room for error that NeoZeo gives more than makes up for it. I'm just not diligent enough nor good enough of an aquarist to want to go that hardcore.

That's what always kept me away from Zeo. I'm just not that diligent either

I know this is advanced forum but a little help? neolith in reactor. micro bacter 7? reef biofuel? potassion?coral amino? and there is a whole lot more that I don't want to just dump into my tank.

From a thread on RC:

Stated simply, this method removes undesirable nutrients and provides beneficial
nutrients. To be slightly more descriptive, it:

• Extracts phosphate, ammonia, and dissolved organic material from aquarium
water by direct adsorption.
• Limits production of nitrate and minimizes the presence of latent organic
material in the system.
• Provides specific organic and inorganic substances for the express purpose of
enhancing health, growth, and vibrant coloration of corals and their allies.

Here is a link to the thread.

I have no personal experience with these kind of systems. And here is one of the reasons:

It should be stated from the onset that this
method will only produce dramatic results if it is employed continuously, and as
directed (with slight adjustments made to dosing as dictated by the appearance of the
aquarium inhabitants). It is an interesting, highly-effective method of maintaining reef
aquaria that is without question geared to the more “hands-on”, experienced reef
aquarium enthusiast.

Too much work for me! ;D It's geared primarily to the SPS environment

I'm sure once you do some reading and have some specific questions the folks in this thread will be able to help you if you are interested in pursuing it further.

thanks that helps a bit. I want to try it out and see if it tweaks the tank a little more with slight algae pretty happy with the tank now after a year and a half running everything is stable. yes reg.water changes is a must.

yes you must use what is specified by the company whether is zeo or BA. I have been dosing the koral color microbac7, reef fuel and have been happy so far only been a week though lol. im going to order the reactor hopefully in the PA group buy.
