How much Sand

I have 40lbs of pure white sand in my tank and taking another 20 or so pounds from another member with his live and dry rock i'm purchasing I also ordered 50lbs of rock from reefrocks.net and getting 40lbs of sand from him with my purchase so is 100lbs plus of sand to much. is mixing sand from 3 different sources detremental in anyway. Right now my tank has nothing but sand 2 Koralia 1400GPM circulatiom pumps, a heater and a wet dry. Oh and i bought a 5 stage RO DI system i have to hook up still. Am I heading in the right direction

This would depend on size of tank and how deep ypu want your sand bed to be. As far as mixing it, its not an issue unless the sand is old. In which case you will be stirring up alot of bad things lol when transferring it and causing a huge cycle. If there will be no livestock in the tank for awhile then i guess that is fine.

oops sorry forgot to give taank size 75 gallons.ps i thoght it was a big tank till i read up about everyones here.LOL

100 would do it. again depending on how deep you wanna go. Some people see benefits of deep sandbeds(DSB) but you have to go real deep like 4"+. personally from what Ive learned there is no point so id say your fine. 75 is still big to some lol like me

I would keep the sand lower then the plastic trim on the bottom of the tank. This way when you clean the glass your not picking up sand and scratching the glass. What do you have in the wet dry filter. Not bio balls I hope. If so I'd replace them with some live rock.

This is 60lbs in a 90 gal. Same footprint as yours. It's about 2.5"-3".

If I took out the stone it would be significantly lower.
