How much sunlight is to much sunlight?

I am starting up my tank and I am trying to find placement for it. I dont have alot of room to work with. There is one spot that is far away from the windows that might get a small amount of light from 3 to 5pm.

Should I be worried about direct sunlight or even nom-direct sunlight? This area gets nondirect sunlight most of the time. Is that okay?

You should be fine, heck there are some people that run their whole systems on sunlight. Depending on the size of the tank, temp might be an issue if it gets way too much sunlight but it would have to be a lot of direct sunlight on a smaller tank. It can lead to some algae growth but only if you are having other issues (nitrates, phosphates, etc.) going on. 2 hours of non direct sunlight a day should not cause an issue at all.
