How to get fish out of return

What's everyone's idea to get a wrasse that jumped into my overflow out ? Damn carpenters wrasse made the leap last night and somehow squeezed himself between the glass top and the overflow box top edge .

Hes hiding well inbetween the pipes so I cant get him with the net now . Only way I can think is when i do my next water change lower the display tank level below the weir then shut off the return pump then pull the pipes from my durso and have him make the trip to the sump or get him with the net if possible .

Any other ideas?

Not sure it’s the same setup but I had a clown leap over the divider and tried to no avail to net her. In the end. I stuffed filter floss down there until there was nowhere to go except up. It worked marvelous but the tank is fairly small and I had lots of floss. But the concept worked flawlessly.
I’d say pulling the drain should work. But what do you do if she doesn’t go thru the hole and just lays there with no water

Good luck I have had a blue green chromis living in my overflow for about a year now cant get him out my overflow is way to big.

We probably don't have the same setup, but... I've got a 180 with overflows in both far corners. I've had fish jump into both of them. The height of the overflow is almost two feet, and one can't reasonably get a net into either at that depth. So... I added sand to the overflow and slowly reduced the depth of the overflow to a point where I could catch the fish with a smallish net. I never removed the sand, I think of both of them as my DSB (Deep Sand Bed)...

yeah its a 90 with a single overflow in the corner close to 2" depth also .

Thanks for the ideas so far.

Sponge, I was afraid of that as well. her not draining and being left in a empty compartment. I was thinkling I could always pump more water from the tank into the return to force her down.

At least she looks happy in there , cause I am stressing . LOL

Had a Hippo end up in my overflow. Pulled the pipe and down it went. Made it through a few 45* and a 90* into a filter sock. No problem.
Get covers made or m as ke them yourself. There are a few people on Ebay that make them. Well worth the few bucks cost
