Last Sunday my Reefkeeper gave up. Slew of errors, reset all, troubleshooted, etc. No dice. So been doing things manually. Coupon came from BRS, figured I'd buy a new one. Expensive but needed.

Brought Jeep to my mechanic Wednesday. Cylinder head is cracked. At least $1200 repair if I don't need a new engine.

Today I was doing a full tank clean and when I turned the system back on my skimmer went 'bffttzzzffft', and now I don't have a skimmer. Looks like a new skimmer, or at least pump, is in the works as well.

So, resigned to my fates, I look at my tank temp this evening. It's 82F.

I go to the garage and snag my cooler unit. Of course it's decided to not work anymore since I was mean to it and stashed it in the garage for 8 months.

I cranked the AC on in the house and dropped it to 75F. We'll see what happens.

No computer, no skimmer, no cooling, no Jeep to drive to the beach in.
In the worst scenario, I'll at least have a bit of disposable income again.

Tap dancin' and whistlin'. Cheers guys.
Just blowing off steam.

I'm (Was) running a ReefKeeper Lite. I'm unsure if its the controller or the strip causing the errors, but its an older system. Was considering upgrading to the bigger leagues but will probably just get a new RKL with the coupon from BRS that arrived this week.

Dropped my old RO-110 skimmer in for time being, should work well while I check the current pump and repair/order a replacement.

Temperature wise, I shut down a powerhead and killed the sump lights. Also shut down a reactor pump. Figure that this, with the AC, should drop things back to reasonable levels.

For good measure I also poured a good measure of gin and tonic into the sump and added a sliced lemon. I love a good gin and tonic when its hot, figured the fish might appreciate it as well.

This sounds about right, a while back I lost my job, my car was then hit while parked, and on the way home I got a ticket for running what I thought was a yellow light, they said it was red.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I hope everything gets resolved. If you need anything just let me know.
